Christopher Powell is a groundbreaking mathematician, businessman, and motivational speaker… with cerebral palsy. He is the working embodiment of extraordinary determination despite tremendous odds. His humorous, insightful stories of personal triumph over a lifetime of heartbreaking disability show others how they can overcome the challenges by turning negatives into positives.
One of America's top emerging disability awareness speakers, Chris is founder and president of Reaching New Heights, LLC and Math Tutoring Experts, LLC. For over 20 years as Coordinator of the Mathematics Learning Center at Montgomery College(Takoma Park/Silver Spring), he has inspired thousands of students to reach beyond their limits. Chris holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, where he was also awarded the Dean's Award for Academic Achievement.
The moment he enters the room, Chris breaks down barriers of seemingly insurmountable despondency, apathy, and even shame. With disarming honesty and passion, he speaks about celebrating small victories, encouraging people from all walks of life to find the gifts within their challenges.
