Top 5 Takeaways:

  1. Value and Embrace Culture

Adapt the mindset of “What can my culture offer another culture?”. Abigail, having moved from Nigeria to Canada on her own, has realized just how different but important culture is. She considers herself to be in a unique position where she can where cultures can be interwoven to create something beautiful. She is gifted in recognizing where Nigerian culture can strengthen Canadian culture and vice versa. Valuing culture allows her to offer more to her clients and encouraged a growth mindset to bring out the best of culture in all situations.

2. Mentorship is Key

Having a mentor is key, Abigail believes to success. The ability to learn from those who have already walked the same path – their mistakes and successes – allows her to set herself up for success. Mentorship is not selective to other event planners but in all areas of building a platform – business, social media, finances, etc.

3. Remain Future Focused

While Abigail’s focus is currently on Event Planning, she remains future focused by thinking of other business channels that will help her increase her business. She currently plans to revamp her website, begin a writing a blog, create content videos and increase her following on Instagram by connecting with other Event Planners.

4. Recognize Giftings

Don’t be afraid to step into the giftings you have been given! Your talents and abilities are unique to you. Abigail had decided years ago that she did not want to pursue business and do something different career wise than what her parents had chosen.  Early on she decided that she was going to pursue a career in Law. After four years of constant rejection from Law School she decided to apply again in Canada, being accepted at the U of S. It was through this that she discovered and embrace her gifting for event planning and started a company!

5. Embrace a Determination Mindset and Remember Gratitude

Fear and lack of confidence can seem like insurmountable mountains to overcome, but by being determined and choosing to keep pressing forward when you want to quit. Being grateful is one way to turn fear into confidence. Abigail chooses to be thankful to God for His thankfulness and provision in her life. By believing each day that God has called her to this, she overcomes fear and lack of confidence and is determined to continue forward knowing that He has been faithful and will remain faithful to her. Faith and gratitude have seen Abigail thrive in her business.
