Weldon’s interest in building and playing medieval instruments has been present most of his life. He has made a range of instruments from balalaikas to clarsachs and had a huge amount of fun creating Hurdy Gurdys. Even the name Hurdy Gurdy makes one smile.
However, making lutes has evolved into a real passion. Looking at the ‘Lute of Illusion’ almost makes you dizzy with the optical illusion created by using woods of different colors. The Lute he made is fashioned after the lutes of the Bosch family from the 1500’s. The original now resides in the Musée de la Musique in Paris France.
